Here’s a look at a few of the office festivities and some reflections and memories from employees. While each office celebrated in unique ways, every staff member received a special Yardi 40th anniversary silver coin. These coins signify the milestone anniversary and mark Yardi’s four decades of success. Atlanta, Georgia, celebrated with a parking lot party with a food truck from Farm Burger and delicious ice cream from Butter & Cream. Employees captured fun and memorable moments with coworkers across all departments. Everyone enjoyed the sunny break outside, playing corn hole, giant Jenga and shaking a tail feather with music on the dance floor. The Atlanta office’s general manager, Don Rogers, reflected on his 18 years at Yardi. He highlighted the company’s values and culture, expressing his love for the people and the company’s forward-thinking approach. His reflections serve as a testament to Yardi’s unique qualities. He shared a milestone memory of his time at Yardi, “One of the first (memories) came on our first day of being part of the Yardi family. I was one of the Classic Real Estate Systems owners Yardi purchased in July 2006. At Classic, we were business casual – no jeans, sneakers, flip-flops, and only button-down shirts for the guys. When Gordon Morrell and Anant Yardi showed up in our office wearing jeans and sneakers and Gordon in a polo shirt, I knew we would be in for a fun ride!” Rogers continued: “That day, we had the pleasure of telling everybody that Yardi would cover all their health insurance costs (they had been mainly paying out of pocket) and that there were concrete plans to grow in Atlanta. There’s no doubt that everybody went home happy that day! And as a testament to Yardi, about a dozen of our original employees are still at Yardi!” Raleigh, North Carolina, celebrated the special anniversary with an 80s-themed party. The employees wore their best MTV tracksuits and neon colors for throwback fun. Greg Smith, vice president for residential CSD, reflects on more than three decades working at Yardi, saying the level of innovation, commitment and willingness to pitch in whenever needed has always been a key part of what makes Yardi successful. Though his time at Yardi has been extraordinary, some challenging moments illustrate the company’s mission in action. “We’ve faced difficulties that no one would have imagined, from losing colleagues to cancer and other illnesses and even suicides. We’ve supported our colleagues through losing children and other family members, seen natural disasters rip through our communities, and watched as children or loved ones of our employees have been deployed into war zones. In each instance, the amazing team at Yardi has come together to support their colleagues, clients, and communities. While those memories aren’t pleasant, they often end with uplifting tales of people helping each other,” Smith said. From serving as a comprehensive healthcare provider to offering social services like financial assistance and food distribution, their approach considers everything it means to be healthy and live the best life possible. Share Ourselves also has a mobile unit in Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach. “Because when we uplift and prioritize the health of every individual, we become stronger as a community,” said Christy Ward, chief executive officer of Share Ourselves. The impact of Share Ourselves’ services is profound, as they provide healthcare and empower individuals to lead healthier lives. The Food Pantry is a crucial segment of its Social Services Department, which includes homeless navigation services, assistance with short-term housing resources, utility assistance, Case Management and other linkages to other community organizations. Maehara spends most of her time in the office troubleshooting client cases and working on client projects. “I love mentoring colleagues and working on internal or other non-client initiatives. I recently helped put on our second internal Commercial summit for the West Coast,” explained Maehara. Maehara feels collaboration and relationships with colleagues and clients are the best part of working at Yardi. Some of Maehara’s favorite interactions at Yardi are from talking about anime with clients to discussing cool hobbies or activities like escape rooms in team meetings. Last week, #TeamYardi Dallas volunteered with the Texas Conservation Alliance. The group participated in a paramount environmental stewardship initiative and cleaned up litter from White Rock Creek in Dallas. In total, the group gathered 850 pounds of litter from the waterway! Their efforts benefit local and marine wildlife all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. In 2023, TCA planted nearly 10,000 native plants in North Texas to support pollinators like monarchs, removed over 13,000 pounds of litter from Texas waterways and planted 1,000 trees to mitigate the urban heat island effect. Last week, the women of the Atlanta office gathered to celebrate each other and network through thoughtful conversations in honor of Women’s History Month. The morning started with a raffle drawing and an exciting networking game: Meet Your Match. Everyone got a clue, such as “cookies” or “sweet,” and you had to network to meet your match without saying the word. For example, “milk & cookies” or “sweet and sour.” While the event took place, music played in the breakroom, and a complete brunch feast was served, including waffles with all the fixings, salmon and grits, bacon and eggs, and mock mimosas. Afterward, the women gathered in the meeting room for fun trivia questions and discussions. The trivia knowledge consisted of famous women in our industry and more, with prizes. Fireside chats were then discussed to create a supportive and informative environment for the office women. A box of tissues circled as many had emotional and profound stories to share. Singleton will celebrate his second-year anniversary here at Yardi next month. He spends much of his time at work assisting clients in troubleshooting their issues with Breeze and Breeze Premier. He assists clients through a chat window, but some clients will call for help instead. He also helps his team when they are in need or have questions. Singleton is constantly introduced to new challenges and problems that he helps clients overcome. “When I can deliver a solution to my clients or even my teammates, it truly makes me happy,” expressed Singleton. Contagious Company Culture Singleton enjoys and appreciates how willing everyone in the office is there to help. Meet Octavio Lizarraga Pescador, associate account manager for the Yardi Breeze CSD team, who hails from the Santa Ana office. Meet Octavio Lizarraga Pescador Octavio Lizarraga Pescador has been working at Yardi for almost two years. His work hours consist primarily of directly assisting clients with Breeze and Breeze Premier implementations. Pescador hosts about four one-hour Zoom meetings with clients daily, in which he assists them with setting up the software or provides training on how to use some of its functionalities. When he is not in meetings, he writes up recaps for clients to summarize what was covered on the previous call or is testing some client inquiries. Along with assisting clients, he also attends internal training, strengthening his understanding of Breeze and Breeze Premier providing better insights for his clients. “I believe the functionality Breeze brings to our clients in terms of being able to manage their properties more efficiently plays a very important aspect for everyone involved,” says Pescador. Meet Philip Suh Philip Suh has been working at Yardi for over a year and a half. Suh spends his workdays answering and catching up on emails in the mornings, participates in daily scrum meetings with his team to discuss cases they are working on that day, and finishes up with client meetings in the afternoon hours. Suh currently works on Positive Pay and Interface cases with the client and a third party vendor or bank. “I love helping people set up and implement new things into their Voyager environment,” said Suh. “I also really enjoy being able to help my teammates out and want to try my best to be approachable by my teammates or other people!” Suh feels the reciprocity at Yardi among his teammates, which he is very grateful for. “I love that everyone is so open to lending a hand, especially with unfamiliar topics.
