A Winning Team
By Leah Etling on Jul 14, 2017 in People
Jeff Bischoff and Michael Grimaud were classmates and friends at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. But that’s not all they have in common. After graduation, both built rewarding careers on the Yardi sales team.
Sales at Yardi, an industry-leading real estate technology company with offices around the world, offers many exciting opportunities for professionals of wide-ranging skill and experience. Bischoff and Grimaud entered the company out of college and quickly ascended.
Other positions are suitable for experienced sales executives and customer care professionals. Both Bischoff and Grimaud began their careers in Yardi’s client services division and then moved to sales. You can learn more about available Yardi sales roles on yardi.com/careers.
We recently caught up with Bischoff and Grimaud to learn more about their experience. Both have been with Yardi for about five years. Bischoff currently works as Regional Manager for Public and Affordable Housing sales, while Grimaud is a Senior Account Executive focusing on the multifamily sector.
Both employees say that Yardi’s prestigious position in the real estate industry, as well as the chance to truly make an impact for
the clients they work with, are among the most rewarding parts of the job.
“I truly enjoy visiting clients face to face on a regular basis. To build strong relationships, it is important the client trusts you and there is no better way to do so than by sitting down and interacting, whether it be through a meeting, a presentation, or a meal. I also enjoy providing clients with a real solution to solve their business issues. When you show a new product to a client for the first time and you can see their eyes light up – that is a great moment,” said Grimaud, who works out of the Yardi Santa Ana office.
Yardi, based in Santa Barbara, Calif., has been creating innovative software solutions since 1984 and now features product lines for essentially every real estate market.
“Yardi’s technology provides flexibility for users and promotes efficiency for organizations,” says Bischoff, who is based in Santa Barbara. “Yardi’s solutions are extremely flexible in that they allow users to work from anywhere at any time, with essentially any device that has an internet connection. This gives clients the tools they need to make decisions quickly.”
Yardi’s sales staff strives to bring clients the technology solutions they seek to better run their businesses, and that means staying up on the latest industry trends. It also means diving deep into client needs.
“I get to participate in client leadership/management conferences that take me to all different places from chateaus in Georgia to ski Resorts in Utah to beach front hotels in Cancun,” says Grimaud.
Bischoff’s client base is vastly different, but equally rewarding.
“The clients I work with are very passionate about their work. Through various federally-funded programs, they help low-income families establish a home and self-sufficiency, and Yardi Voyager is one of the primary tools they use to manage this process. They’re pleasant to work with and are grateful for the role that Yardi plays in their everyday work,” he says.
With 5,300 employees and 35 offices around the globe, Yardi is focused on innovation and growth yet maintains a friendly, family-focused feel.
“Yardi is a great company to work for. The culture is one of team work, constant learning, shared experiences, and trust,” says Grimaud.
“It’s evident that Yardi takes care of its employees. Also, as a prominent player in a very competitive industry, it is a lot of fun to be part of a winning team,” says Bischoff.
While they spend plenty of work days on the road meeting with clients, both also make time to enjoy life outside of the office. Bischoff spends his free time playing beach volleyball, deep sea fishing and taking bike rides with his wife and infant son. Grimaud’s hobbies include hiking with his wife, checking out local restaurants and coffee shops, weightlifting with Yardi coworkers, and walking his dog along Newport Beach.
Clients and coworkers alike might learn those things about him, he noted.
“Most of the clients I work with are regular people. They might own or run a large property management company, but they are friendly and easy to work with. They enjoy building personal relationships through both business discussions and sharing personal stories. You learn a lot about clients based on what they do outside of the work place, and the thing that makes my interactions most enjoyable are the personal stories they share,” Grimaud said.
