Let’s delve into the unique role of Matt Marvin, a senior consultant of the Yardi Bill Pay team.
Meet Matt Marvin
During a professional journey spanning 13 years at Yardi, Matt Marvin has earned his master’s degree in management information systems. He holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and an Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification. His role involves project management, client support, technical sales, and product management. He takes pride in his work and the impact it has on the company and its clients.
“I work on a relatively specific ancillary module (Bill Pay/AP payments), but I really like going incredibly in-depth into the payments industry. Payments are important (firms need to receive and send funds efficiently and securely), and a lot goes on behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly for our customers,” explained Marvin.
Supportive work environment
Yardi fosters a supportive work environment that encourages both individual and team excellence. This is achieved through job security and a culture that values collective success over individual achievement. Marvin says, “My coworker’s success is a win for my team and me.”
Marvin would describe Yardi to new hires joining the team as a rising tide. This is accredited to company growth annually and as a company that believes in treating its employees well with excellent benefits and paid time off.
“Come work here, do a good job, and you will be treated well. That isn’t corporate/HR mumbo-jumbo. That’s my actual experience.”

Big Picture Goals
Within Yardi, Marvin’s most proud project was being the first Client Services (CSD) employee to launch our Bill Pay service in 2016. Though this moment was super busy for him, he reflects with gratitude as some of the best moments in his career.
“The first six months of Bill Pay were a flurry of product enhancements, emails, phone calls, and instant messages with our development team, payment operations team, and my partner on the East Coast (shout-out to Joe Burton!).”
Marvin would enjoy being exposed to the realities of working at a more senior level where there’s a bigger picture than most of his day-to-day job duties. This gives him more appreciation for the parts of his job that focus on the big picture (how should we position/market this product? Is this the direction we want to take this module?).
Marvin thinks a co-worker at the director level within Yardi would be engaging to swap with for a day.
“I’d have to pick either Chris Gruninger (Director in the Procure to Pay division, which I have a lot of overlap with) or James Armour (Director in the Energy Division, also my boss’s boss). Both James and Chris are charged with answering some of the big-picture questions I’ve posed above, but they must also be hands-on with very specific support cases, product features, and client requests.”
Aviation California Dad
Outside the office, Matt Marvin enjoys his time with his family, his amazing daughters, Lainey and Nora and his awesome wife, Brooke. Every Saturday, he gets to spend daddy-daughter time, and they do a unique activity together. He is also lucky to enjoy a date night or two every month with Brooke. He loves California teams—the Dodgers, Rams and Lakers and on Friday nights, he generally plays Fortnite or Helldivers 2 with his closest friends.
He would love to one day get out of North America, travel to Europe, and be immersed in the architecture in Madrid, Paris and Rome and the history of London, Berlin and Istanbul.
“A fun fact- I’m a big aviation nerd. I really like flying, and I know a lot about commercial aviation business, logistics, and operations,” said Marvin.
Marvin is a bigger believer in emotional health and intelligence, which he has not put a lot of energy into the first part of his life. Still, as he ages, he sees the importance of investing in emotional well-being and increasing emotional intelligence.
“I’m on a personal journey now to investigate my past to understand better how my past is impacting me in the present. It’s been a hard process, but I’m grateful to understand myself better and relate to the people I love.”
