Water, power and wastewater agency anticipates improved audit performance and reporting on leases for its varied land portfolio

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF., Sept. 25, 2013 – Yardi announced today that the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) has selected Yardi Voyager® to manage its broad portfolio of owned and leased land holdings.

The SFPUC will use Yardi Voyager, a software-as-a-service property management and accounting platform, to manage leases, permits and licenses for short-term and long-term uses of right-of-way properties. The leases include non-revenue permits and memoranda of understanding with other municipalities for use of the land. The SFPUC leases more than 60,000 acres of land in seven San Francisco Bay Area counties for agriculture, quarrying, golfing, parking, housing and grazing purposes.

“Our previous system was outdated and hindered our ability to manage our leases effectively,” said Rosanna Russell, real estate director for the SFPUC. “Ultimately, this led to a negative audit by the city controller, so we sought a new platform for managing all critical dates associated with financial and other lease terms, licenses and permits. With the wide variety of property types in our portfolio, we concluded that Yardi Voyager was the best choice for a user-friendly property management and lease administration solution that could be easily adapted to our unique portfolio. We were also impressed with Yardi’s history of innovation and industry leadership.”

She added, “Yardi Voyager will provide better revenue reporting for forecasting and variance analysis, and help us improve compliance with all agreement provisions by delivering more accurate and timely reporting of lease obligations.”

“Yardi is pleased that SFPUC is joining a growing roster of government clients that benefit from the enterprise-wide Voyager platform that provides 360-degree visibility with operational and financial data plus process automation. It’s also easy for clients to add new solutions, with mobility,” said Dan Campbell, vice president of government services for Yardi.
